A First Way In

An introductory guided experience

Most people arrive curious and slightly unsure what they have signed up for. This experience is built for exactly that position.

It moves slowly. There is time to talk beforehand, time to settle, a guided period with eyes closed, and time afterward to say what happened without having to make it mean anything yet.

No psychedelic substances are used or provided.

The question it is built around

What is already available in here?

Who it may appeal to

  • People curious about altered states who do not want to use substances
  • Experienced meditators curious about other modalities
  • People who would rather begin gently than dramatically

How it unfolds

Before

A short conversation about what brings you, anything relevant to participation, and what you would like to leave room for. Nothing is required of you beyond honesty about how you are doing.

During

A guided sequence with eyes closed, combining attention, breath, body awareness and carefully sequenced sound. Pacing is deliberate, with silence used as much as stimulation. You can speak, pause or stop at any point.

Afterward

Unhurried reflection, in conversation or in writing. Some people want to talk for an hour. Some want to sit quietly and leave. Both are fine.

Questions

Do I need any experience with meditation?

No. This experience assumes none.

What if nothing unusual happens?

That is a legitimate outcome and a fairly common one. No particular experience is required or promised.
